About the Director

Manish Chandra V. (He/Him)

Manish is a quotidian storyteller. His passion lies in capturing life's moments through the lens of vintage cameras and camcorders. He finds beauty in the everyday interaction among people, the overlooked details that hold immense stories. This fascination started with a simple point-and-shoot camera and has evolved into a collection of vintage tools and a thirst for exploring forgotten technologies.

Manish's formal education lies in Technology and Business, but his true lessons come from capturing life on (almost) obsolete film and videotape, @manisharchive. His blog, @uoharchive, documented the quirky and unique aspects of post-covid campus life, while his short film Haan Bhai - Part 2 captured the shared experience of smoking with friends. Now, he brings this distinct style to his upcoming film, a story about queer lives seen through an ordinary, quotidian lens.

This project adds to a collection of short films Manish has directed, some yet to be released. Cats takes viewers on a dreamlike journey where lovers defy reality, only to have their idyllic world shattered by a dark secret. Cigarettes offer a glimpse into the solace found in shared struggles as two old acquaintances reconnect over a smoke break. Through these diverse stories, Manish invites us to see the incredible hidden within the mundane interactions.
